Martha attended her first yoga class in 1980 here in Lincoln County and knew it would be a life changer. Since then she has studied several forms of yoga, finding benefits from all schools. After her retirement from nursing in 2013 she attended a 200 hour teacher training at the Sola School of Contemplative Arts in Portland, Or. She volunteered at the Newport Sixty Plus Center teaching active Seniors but resigned from that position after the birth of her granddaughter found her in Portland on almost a full time basis.
"I believe that yoga is good for every body no matter what age you come to it. The benefits of yoga are well documented with stress reduction , quieting the mind and the ability to reach your shoelaces being just a few. I want to make yoga accessible and fun for the people of my community and am very concerned with alignment and the safety of my students." Martha's classes are taught in a relaxed atmosphere and are gentle, with an emphasis on the breath plus flexibility and strengthening for both mind and body.
